Nordic Ski Walking involves striding and bounding with ski poles skiing to acquire ski-specific fitness and coordination in both classic and skating techniques.

Specific strength conditioning exercises use calisthenics, plyometrics, and natural resistance to sculpt a skier's body;

Roller-skiing greatly enhances technique by most closely reproducing the feeling and resistance akin to skiing on snow, while building cardio-muscular power-endurance.
